Mission Statement: to promote interest and awareness of study abroad in the College of Natural Sciences by connecting prospective study abroad students with study abroad alumni.

*Eligibility is extended to any student in the College of Natural Sciences. Partial membership applies to those who have not yet studied abroad while full membership applies to study abroad alumni. IONS invites you to join them in activities that promote international opportunities.

What have we done before?

  • Bon Voyage & Welcome Back Banquets: to congratulate study abroad students on their decision to go abroad and to emphasize the importance of spreading the word about studying, working, volunteering, and interning abroad when they return. Dean Sacha Kopp also comes to take pictures and present certificates to study abroad alumni on their return from abroad.
  • Pen Pals program:
  • Culturally themed socials: International Game Night

What're we planning on implementing? Stronger Pen Pals program. Culturally-themed informational sessions where we have a presentation from a study abroad alumni and a student panel of other alumni/international students who have gone to that country/program. Possible Mixer in the long run with students from many countries/programs all at one place to answer your questions on SA/their program/finances/etc. etc.

Why else should you join? Small commitment, free food at all our events, culture, study abroad, plenty of chances to hear about study abroad from students who have gone abroad! Resources for where to get further information on study abroad.
